勤美集團結盟全球頂尖英商IHG洲際酒店集團，聯手打造「台中勤美洲際酒店」今（23）日開幕，台中市長盧秀燕表示，台中市是慶典城市，國際頂級品牌酒店的引進，將為國內外旅客提供頂級的住宿體驗，不僅增加台中觀光知名度，也是開拓國際市場的強大助力。

盧秀燕說，感謝勤美集團把國際級的洲際酒店帶來台中，讓台中多了新地標，和發光發熱的大寶石。她指出，「Red Bull Showrun」賽車展演活動、台中爵士音樂節，都累積數十萬、甚至數百萬人次參與；台中購物節24日登場，接下來還有花毯節、跨年晚會等，市府會持續舉辦大型活動，帶動消費提振經濟。

台中市前市長胡志強表示，他還未任台中市長時，這塊土地一片黃土，便下定決心，有朝一日要整治這塊地。他笑說，與勤美集團創辦人何明憲同窗多年，何深耕18年，現在終於熬成一朵花。

胡志強回憶道，從科博館到美術館，「草悟道」其實是「行草、悟道」，地景融合文藝，即是希望來訪的人能夠感受書法行雲流水的理念，創造舒適都市空間。

勤美集團創辦人何明憲提到，雖然已工作多年，但計畫僅完成40%，剩下60%的軟硬體還需要10至15年、投資百億資金完成，後續還要著重經營、管理，才能達到永續目標。

勤美洲際酒店總經理埃里克·斯旺森（Eric Swanson）表示，台中具備南來北往便捷交通網路，更是一個充滿活力的商務與觀光中心，展現無限發展潛力，未來將致力展現台灣的好客之道，以及洲際酒店「以善為本、以誠待客」的摯真之道。

觀旅局說明，訂房平台今年評選「亞洲9大住宿最平價旅遊地」，台中為台灣唯一列入城市，去年及今年上半年至台中旅遊住宿的人次僅次於台北，6都排名第2；未來還有台中商銀、大毅建設及中華郵政等至少9家企業籌備的旅館相繼落成，預計為台中旅宿業注入新活力。
