花蓮縣玉里鎮光復路附近，日前深夜發生一起男子拿剁刀行走街頭事件。玉里警分局表示，有住戶發現他步伐怪異、動作宛如民俗儀式的遊行，加上手拿刀械，擔心發生意外，通報警方處理。轄區玉里派出所員警獲報，火速出動到達現場，第一時間以優勢警力，迅速將洪姓男子壓制，帶回派出所管束安置，成功避免可能的危害。
玉里警分局表示，考量可能會危及公共安全，派出所警員陳承恩、施力誠、宋國綾及實訓生陳奕丞等人，獲報立即趕抵現場。員警發現洪姓男子拿著刀四處走動，立即以優勢警力上前壓制，順利控制局面。洪男則表示，服用安眠藥後，精神狀況不佳。員警則依警察職權行使法第19條第1項規定，將他帶返派出所實施管束，以保障他及其他人的安全。
警方表示，由於洪男手中的剁刀，是已開鋒的刀械。也依社會秩序維護法第63條第1項第1款規定，涉嫌沒有正當理由攜帶具有殺傷力的器械，而移送花蓮地方法院裁處。
玉里警分局長黃清暉表示，面對行為異常而且疑似危及公共安全的情況，警方將秉持「快速反應、優勢警力、嚴密處置」原則，確保社區安全不受威脅。同時也呼籲，民眾若發現可疑狀況，應立即通報警方，共同維護公共秩序。
