1艘中國海警「3102」船隻，在8月26晚間8時許，於東沙島西北方限制海域外，持續朝東沙航行。海巡署東南沙分署東沙指揮部表示，當天偵獲中國海警船行蹤後，研判船隻將進入我東沙管轄水域，隨即調派在航任務艦「臺南艦」，前往對應驅離。直到今（28）日清晨2時39分，中國海警船，才於東沙島西南方27浬，以航速10節，往西北西方向航離東沙海域。不排除中國海警船，藉此測試我國勤務部署，消耗我海上執法能量。
海巡署表示，當天調派「臺南艦」前往監控中國海警船後，約晚間8時54分左右，「臺南艦」抵達東沙島西北方25浬位置，對應中國海警「3102」船艦，實施併航監控及廣播驅離。「臺南艦」多次以無線電廣播，要求海警船航離我方水域，並持續併航監視，期間兩船最近距離僅0.5浬。直到今天凌晨中國海警船，終於航離東沙海域。
海巡署表示，近年來中國海警船，頻繁在東沙及金門水域出沒襲擾，今年度已有9艘25航次侵擾東沙海域，嚴重影響區域安全與和平穩定，破壞國際間互助信任機制。將持續派遣大型艦船戍守東沙海域，堅定捍衛國家主權及海洋權益。並呼籲各國齊心協力，共同維護台海及印太區域的和平與繁榮。
